Red Line wins Carrera Cup team title
Red Line Racing has won the team championship in the 2007 Porsche Carrera Cup GB, regaining the crown it won in 2004.With two races still to run this season, the Cleveland-based team cannot now be beaten thanks to the results scored by its pair of nominated drivers, James Sutton and Tim Harvey. Following round 18 at Knockhill yesterday (Sunday 2 September) Red Line Racing is 85 points ahead of Motorbase Performance and with a total team score of 79 points available during the final weekend of the season, the award is headed back to the North-East along with the £7000 prize money for the top team of the year."It's been a fantastic year for us," said team boss Simon Leonard. "The guys have worked incredibly hard as they've done the Porsche Supercup as well." However, there is no time for Leonard and his crew to celebrate as they have Porsche Supercup races at Monza (Italy) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) coming up over the next two weekends, before a three-week break ahead of the final Carrera Cup GB weekend at Thruxton (13.14 October). With Sutton and Harvey currently leading the overall drivers' title and Nigel Rice heading the pro-am standings, Red Line Racing could take a clean sweep of all the major Carrera Cup awards. "We need to just keep up this momentum and try and clean up at Thruxton," says Leonard.
