Yokohama Drivers Cup USA

Yokohama Drivers Cup USA offers a unique union the combination of on-track coaching wrapped in a race weekend at famous race tracks around the US.

“It has been a productive season since our first event in March and an even busier August. We started the month in Wisconsin at Road America and ended in California at Laguna Seca,” noted Greg Franz, RaceSeries Director.

“During our three-day event at Laguna Seca, the drivers had over five and a half hours of track  time including two forty-five minute races. Craig Stanton did a great job of coaching and was joined by Porsche factory driver Patrick Long. At every session – practice, qualifying and during the races - they were at different parts of the track watching the cars, taking notes, and than debriefing one-on-one with each driver.

“We continue to expand the format with each successive weekend. For our next event at Infineon Raceway, we will be introducing new technology that will enhance our current teaching tools of in-car video and data acquisition. This new hardware will assist our drivers in getting access to information quicker, which will translate into more immediate improvement on the track. The idea is to make the learning process as efficient as possible so they can take advantage of ourcoaching to the fullest extent possible.”

The on-track learning is enhanced with technical seminars. At Laguna Seca, MoTeC Systems explained the use of data acquisition to find both speed and comfort on the track. But more than just giving blackboard sessions, the Driver Cup technical partners talk with the drivers all weekend. KW Automotive will be the featured technical partner at the next event, clarifying the intricacies of adjustable shock absorbers.

“We race next at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA October 26 – 28,” said Franz. “One of the things that separate us fromother driving schools is that we race at renowned tracks to maximize the variety of challenges for our participants. Infineon is a driver’s track and will be a fitting showcase for the Drivers Cup special combination of education and fun.”

Yokohama Drivers Cup USA is the premier American racing series that focuses on education and coaching to make its participants competent drivers at all levels.

Drivers race their own Porsche GT3 996 and 997 Cup Cars during three day weekends in an enjoyable atmosphere with one-on-one professional coaching and direct help from its technical partners. This unique blend of racing and education produces drivers that enjoy their on-track experience with competence.
