AGAIN
Harriet Harman has again been caught speeding according to a report in the Mail on Sunday. This follows a 7 day ban for driving at 99mph on the M4.
Harriet Harman is now Deputy Labour leader.
Commenting on the news, Paul Smith, founder of SafeSpeed.org.uk, said: "Our speeding laws have become a very bad joke. The hypocrisy is absolutely breathtaking. As a nation of drivers none of us are up to the challenge of 'never speeding'. Speed limits are broken by judges, Police officers, magistrates, senior politicians and drivers from every background."
"It's high time that the government admitted that speed camera policy has failed to save lives and has simply criminalised millions of responsible drivers."
"It's very important that no one drives 'too fast' but the speed limit does not tell us what 'too fast' is. We have a nation of drivers who adjust their speed to suit the conditions - and that's exactly what road safety needs. When police officers enforced the speed limit there was a 'reality check', and they concentrated their efforts on those who were driving dangerously fast. Speed cameras lack this 'reality check' and have exposed the serious limitations in the speed limit laws."
"Will Harriet Harman now admit that speed cameras penalise responsible people driving safely? Or does she honestly believe that she was driving in such a way that she was endangering the public?"
"Speed cameras distract everyone from far more important safety factors and we won't get road safety back on track until we have scrapped every last one."
