Hendy impresses the crowds at Rallyday in Focus WRC

The Hendy Group Ford Focus WRC was one of the star attractions at last weekend’s Castle Combe Rallyday with Steve Hendy in action on the two feature stages.

“It was a great day with more than 10,000 rally fans at the Wiltshire circuit and a good opportunity to test the car ahead of our final trip to Europe next month,’’ said the South Coast rally driver.

“The enthusiasm of the crowd was tremendous and it was great to be involved in such a popular day.’’

As part of the day’s activities, Steve was one of the drivers giving passenger rides to guests and competition winners at Rallyday. “For some people it was the first time they had been in a rally car and everyone emerged with a smile on their face.’’

Steve and co-driver Aled Davies now turn their attention to Belguim where they will be competing in the Haspengouw rally on October 7, a round of the Belgian National Championship.

“Castle Combe was great for fine tuning the set-up of the Focus and testing the Hankook tyres ahead of Haspengouw,’’ he said.

“We competed last year and the event is extremely well organised, enjoyable and challenging and it will provide a tough finale to our 2007 season.’’

In Belgium there are 13 high speed tests on this event taking in more than 140km of closed roads.
