Organisers of the Tempest Rally have continued to create an event appealing to competitors and supporters with this year’s rally including an innovative new format and a welcome cut in entry fees.
On Saturday November 10 two events will be run on the Hampshire/Surrey border – one for two wheel drive cars and another for the four wheel drive machinery covering 12 high speed tests over 45 miles.
And in a novel twist they will start in two separate locations and will both run first on at least two of the stages but finish around the same time.
“It’s certainly a little bit different,’’ said rally manager Barry Guess. “But we wanted to ensure that everyone gets to run on the best possible rally surfaces and by introducing this innovative format the two wheel drive cars will get to run first on several stages.’’
The new format, and price cut, have been hailed as a great way to appeal to as wide a range of competitors as possible and Barry said he was delighted with the initial response from rally crews.
“At The Tempest Rally we always strive to reflect the needs of all involved and have deliberated long and hard about the best way forward so we are delighted that we have been able to announce details of this format,’’ he said.
