Jordan chases Indie title at Thruxton

Mike Jordan will battle to win the 2007 Independents' Trophy in the final three races in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton (Hampshire) over the weekend of 13/14 October. In rounds 28, 29 and 30 of the championship, Jordan will not just be striving to win the prestigious Independents' Trophy. He will be chasing overall podium finishes at a track that has traditionally suited the John Guest Honda Integra extremely well.Heading to the dauntingly fast Hampshire track, the Team Eurotech Honda Integra has a narrow three-point lead over Colin Turkington's BMW, with the BMW of Mat Jackson not far away. "It's a hugely important weekend for the team," he says. However, while his main attention will be on the BTCC races at Thruxton, Mike will also be keeping up to date with events across the Irish Sea at Mondello Park, where his 18-year old son Andrew will be contesting the penultimate round of the MSA British Rallycross at the wheel of a 500bhp four-wheel drive Ford Focus. Andrew heads to Ireland leading the points' standings, with the title to be decided in the final round at Croft a week later."I'm sure my mind will wander to what's happening at Mondello Park," admits Mike. "Mondello is home ground to all the Irish teams and it's a tough one for me not to be at," he says.Meanwhile, the Eurotech team starred in week's Auto Express magazine, with a two-page feature following the experience of journalist Richard Aucock when he spent the weekend with the team at Brands HatchNow comes Thruxton, which will also see the overall BTCC title decided between Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi. Their contest is sure to make for a day of high drama and a huge crowd is expected. For those not able to be at Thruxton, the meeting will feature extensive TV coverage.ITV4 will be on air from 12.30pm to 2pm, showing a full re-run of race one followed by live coverage of race two. ITV1 will be on air from 3.30pm to 5pm with its regular round-up plus live coverage of race three. That means a total of three hours of airtime on ITV's channels for the Thruxton races.
