in Carrera Cup at ThruxtonJonny Kane will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB to race in the final two rounds of the championship at Thruxton this weekend (13/14 October).Kane will race the guest car from Porsche Motorsport as part of the links between the Carrera Cup GB and the McLaren/Autosport/BRDC Young Driver of the Year Awards. Kane, the 1995 award winner, will be the second former award winner to race the car this year and returns to the series having previously raced the guest car at Oulton Park in 2003.The 1997 British F3 champion is now established as an international sports and GT driver, but has not raced a Porsche since that Carrera Cup outing at Oulton Park. However, he jumped at the chance of racing at Thruxton again. "I haven't had many opportunities to race at Thruxton since my F3 days 10 years ago. But I always love Thruxton," he said. "Oulton Park four years ago is still the only time I've ever raced any type of Porsche, but it should be good fun."Kane will drive the car for the first time in qualifying on Saturday morning, so has little time to learn the car. "It's going to be a bit of a tough weekend as we go straight into qualifying. But I want to have two strong races and hopefully have a good weekend."
