Carrera Cup GB celebrates 100 races
The Porsche Carrera Cup GB reached its 100th race at the final race of the 2007 season at Thruxton on Sunday (14 October). Since the series began at the start of the 2003 season, 20 races per year have been run, making the last race of 2007 the 100th in the history of the Carrera Cup GB.To mark the occasion, the guest car from the Porsche Motorsport ran in a special 100th race livery and was raced by Jonny Kane. A celebration cake was cut for teams and their guests and limited edition mugs and caps were presented to the teams and drivers.The driver with the most race wins in those 100 races is Richard Westbrook, the 2004 champion and subsequent double Porsche Supercup champion, with a total of 31 race wins. Tim Harvey has won 17 times, while Damien Faulkner has 13 wins to his credit and Danny Watts scored 10 victories during the 2006 season.In all, 14 drivers have won races in the 100 races, with other race winners being Steven Kane (7), James Sutton (6), Barry Horne (5), Jason Templeman (3), Patrick Long (2), Alain Menu (2) and single race winners David Pinkney, James Pickford, Andrew Kirkaldy and Sam Hancock.
