Zuber and Filippi Dominate First Days in France
Just days after being rewarded with F1 testing shots following their strong performances in the 2007 GP2 Series, Andreas Zuber and Luca Filippi have confirmed that the faith being placed in them is well founded by topping the first two days of GP2 Series testing at Circuit Paul Ricard, France.
Andi topped both sessions on Tuesday for Minardi Piquet Sports with a best laptime of 1:12.741 while today saw Luca repeat Andi’s feat in leading both the morning and afternoon for ART Grand Prix with a best time of 1:12.853, which he achieved despite light, intermittent rain.
The past two days have formed the first half of what will be the largest GP2 Series test in history, and will be the final time that the current car will be run in anger in Europe before it is shipped out to Dubai for the GP2 Asia Series.
This test will therefore form the basis of many teams’ choices over their driver line-up for the new series, whilst also going a long way towards making up their minds over their 2008 drivers for the main series.
