Rockingham launches new Scholarship

TO FIND RACING STARS OF THE FUTURE

ROCKINGHAM is helping to identify and develop the racing drivers of the future with the launch of a Junior Scholarship programme to run alongside the BRSCC T-Car Championship.

Working closely with the BRSCC, the Northamptonshire circuit will host and jointly organise a combination of lectures and tutorials covering every aspect of motor racing.

The T-Car championship is a 16-round saloon car race series specifically designed for drivers between the ages of 14 and 17 years-old. The end of the 2008 season will see a staggering £100,000 prize fund split between the top three drivers, contributing to their2009 racing budgets.

The Rockingham Junior Scholarship programme will enable competitors to develop their knowledge of T-Car technology and vehicle dynamics, while also enhancing car control skills through expert instruction on the circuit’s £1.5 million state-of-the-art Wet Grip facility.

Media and business training specific to the industry will also be covered in the tutorials to fully prepare the drivers for the professional world of motor sport.

“We are thrilled to be supporting the 2008 BRSCC T-Car Championship after a spectacular series this year,” commented Charlotte Orton, Director of Sales and Marketing at Rockingham.

“The T-Car Championship plays an important role in developing new talent, and the Rockingham Junior Scholarship programme will provide young drivers with a unique opportunity to develop their racing skills.

“Rockingham will host an adrenalin-packed line-up of top-level motor sport in 2008, including the British Touring Car Championship and the F3/GT series, so we can help T-Car drivers build a familiarity with a premier racing venue that they can expect to revisit throughout their careers.”

Rockingham has been associated with the T-Car championship for the past two seasons through vehicle sponsorship. The junior scholarship scheme will increase the circuit’s support in 2008 and help promote an exciting future for motor racing.
