to Formula Kart Stars
Still time to enter for Championship opener at Kimbolton
Thanks to a partnership deal with the renowned Formula Palmer Audi single-seater series, entrants to this year’s Formula Kart Stars KF2 Championship will be able to take advantage of free entry into this weekend’s opening event at Kimbolton - and the other championship rounds.
Competitors will also benefit from racing in the only karting series officially endorsed by Formula One™ supremo, Bernie Ecclestone. In a statement to announce the deal, he said “Carolynn Hoy runs one of the best and most forward-thinking karting series. Formula Kart Stars will become the benchmark for karting – not just with competitive racing, but also the best support structure for young competitors”.
With many drivers nowadays using kart racing as a launch pad for a career in motor sport’s highest category, Ecclestone added, “I have a feeling that in future, the Formula One™ World Champions may well come from within the ranks of FKS and this is the reason that Formula One Management supported FKS”.
Winners of each of the nine rounds will be invited to the Formula Palmer Audi HQ at the Bedford Aerodrome to take part in a shoot-out. The winner of which, will be able to compete in the FPA Autumn Trophy, courtesy of a fully-funded drive.
Alternatively, the winner will be able to choose between the scholarship seat or the equivalent of £10,000 worth of testing or competing in the 2010 summer season.
Carolynn said, “It’s a wonderful prize. I would describe Formula Palmer Audi as single-seaters with someone holding your hand. It’s a great stepping-stone into cars.”
Formula Kart Stars’ association with FPA also signifies an important opportunity for drivers long on talent but short on budget, as Carolynn explains, “With FPA offering its 2009 champion a scholarship towards the FIA Formula 2 championship and the champion of that series being awarded a test with Williams F1, the collaboration between FPA and FKS establishes the possibility to find a cost-effective path for young drivers wishing to progress from karting all the way to F1.”
Drivers can register for the KF2 class now by clicking on formulakartstars.com or by signing on at the circuit on Friday morning, from 8am.
