Caterhams added to Motors TV’s ..

all-star ‘09 line-up

Motors TV will continue its crusade to provide a home for the “Best of British Motorsport” after confirming that Caterham racing will appear on the channel this season.

The High Speed Television Channel will devote time to all four senior championship classes – Roadsports A & B and Superlights R300 & R400 – across eight, 50 minute programmes to be screened regularly throughout 2009.

The country’s best loved track car, the Caterham Seven, has long held the mantle of providing the most fun for the least amount of money, a key ingredient in making the championship a popular destination for those without the budget to compete in single-seaters. As such, grids are often packed and with no driver aids to complicate matters, the racing closely fought.

The machine’s simple, lightweight design has changed little since its launch in Lotus guise 50 years ago when the late, great Colin Chapman first developed it alongside his company's other motorsport commitments. It is testament to his original concept, one that matched sharp, nimble handling with raw power that the current Caterham range remains capable of outperforming even the most exotic of supercars on both road and track.

Motors TV’s Head of Programming and Acquisitions, Frederic Viger said, “We’re particularly proud to see Caterham racing join our 2009 line-up as they’re exciting and certainly one of the most treasured and recognisable series in British motorsport. I’d like to stress that television coverage remains just a first step though. Working closely throughout the season, we’re developing a partnership that involves running competitions as well as all entries bearing the Motors TV logo in 2009. Naturally we’ll be further tightening those brand links throughout the year.”

Catch Motors TV’s 2009 Caterham coverage in the weekly “Best of British Motorsport” slot – Saturday’s at 7.05pm. It all kicks off on May 2 with action from Silverstone and Donington Park rounds.
