Jordan Young, aged 8, from Milton Keynes enjoyed an action packed day when he had his wish granted to attend the Easter Thunderball event at the Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire on Friday 10 April 2009. His wish was made possible thanks to Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK, the leading wishgranting charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Jordan, who is living with a life threatening skin condition, is a huge fan of cars, especially monster trucks and had always dreamed of attending the Easter Thunderball event. The annual event is a ‘motorsport extravaganza’ and features high-octane racing, a huge variety of race cars and bike displays and best of all for Jordan, monster trucks.
Jordan was joined on his day of adventure by his mum and dad and also his brothers Ryan and Scott. He received full VIP treatment from the off and arrived at the Santa Pod Raceway in a luxury limousine. On arrival Jordan and his brothers visited the Santa Pod shop where they received special gifts, including clothes. They were kitted out in racing driving gear and made to feel like real racing car drivers.
The best part of the day was yet to come. Jordan was lead to the live action arena where he got up close to a real monster truck - he could not believe his eyes! The thrills and spills did not end there as Jordan was also treated to a ride inside a super-charged sliding car.
Jordan’s mum, Fiona, says: “Jordan had a fantastic day – it was more then he could have wished for! The staff at the Santa Pod Raceway were amazing; I can’t thank them and Make-A-Wish enough for all they did.”
This year, over 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted. Make-A-Wish needs to raise £5 million in 2009 to continue granting these magical wishes. To find out how you can support them, please visit our website www.make-a-wish.org.uk.
