2009 DTM starts with record turnoutDTM: 210,000 spectators witnessed the official presentation of the 2009 DTM on "Königsallee" in Düsseldorf on Sunday, marking a new record turnout of visitors. In brilliant sunshine, the Audi drivers untiringly signed autographs along the famous shopping street. Title defender Timo Scheider, Martin Tomczyk and Oliver Jarvis thrilled the fans with show laps at the wheel of their Audi A4 DTM cars and pit stop demonstrations. In addition, the spectators lining the "Kö" experienced the new products launched in 2009: The Audi R8 DTM safety car and a Top Service/Gebrauchtwagen:plus Audi RS 6 led a motorcade consisting of Audi S4 Avant, Audi A4 allroad, Audi TT RS, Audi Q7, Audi A5 Cabrio and Audi R8 V10 vehicles. The 2009 DTM season will kick off at the Hockenheimring on May 17. Oliver Jarvis drives for Audi CupDTM: AUDI AG uses its motorsport commitment to highlight a special sports event: The Audi A4 DTM driven by Oliver Jarvis will contest the series sporting the colors of the first Audi Cup. The soccer tournament will be staged at Munich’s Allianz Arena on July 29 and 30 on the occasion of Audi’s 100th anniversary. AC Milan, FC Bayern München, Manchester United and Club Atlético Boca Juniors will fight for the title in the tournament. First podium result for Audi R8 LMSVLN: At the second test run in the BFGoodrich Endurance Championship on the Nürburgring, Team Phoenix Racing clinched the first podium result for the Audi R8 LMS. In adverse weather conditions, with rain, fog and cold, the three Nordschleife specialists Christan Abt, Marc Basseng and Frank Stippler in the new GT3 sports car of AUDI AG advanced from ninth place on the grid to finish in second place.
