Bike - De Dycker Clinches Belgian MX

In a week when the Teka Suzuki World MX1 team were devastated to learn that Steve Ramon was to possibly face three months on the sidelines with a neck fracture, Ken De Dycker was able to offer some positive news when the 24 year old clinched the first round of the Belgian Championship at Beervelde last Friday on his RM-Z450.

He also dominated an International meeting (Flanders Trophy) at Tongeren on Sunday; the two meetings occurring on hard and sandy terrain in what was an excellent display of riding.

The Belgian - who is currently third in the FIM World Championship standings - won two motos and gained a fourth position in the three Beervelde sprints to celebrate first place overall. The first and third races saw De Dycker enjoy formidable speed over a number of fellow Grand Prix factory riders, including 2008 World Champion David Philippaerts and last week's Benelux GP winner Jonathan Barragan. In the second outing - watched by team-mate Ramon - he slipped up on the opening lap but flew back from a slot outside of the top 20 to obtain fourth.

Two days later he was in action again and full of confidence in Tongeren after shrugging off some back pain and enjoying the fruits of some new suspension settings. Once more defeating GP peers such as Barragan, Max Nagl and Clement De Salle, he was able to celebrate for the second time in 48 hours thanks to two motos wins from three.

"It was a good weekend, I had some good starts and even when things did not work out - like they did at the beginning of that second moto in Beervelde - my pace was good enough to come back though the pack," said De Dycker who already has German and British crowns. "I was very happy with my riding and there were a few of the top GP guys at both meetings also and I know they always like to push, so overall it was a pleasing set of results."

Teka Suzuki WMX1 will be back on FIM World Championship duty this weekend with the fifth round of 15 to take place at the Agueda circuit for the Grand Prix of Portugal.
