Ajlani selected as Hilton Racing ambassador

Sportscar ace Karim Ajlani has been selected as the latest high profile worldwide ambassador of Hilton Racing.

The 33-year-old, who became the first Syrian to ever race at the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours last June, joins the likes of Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, Heikki Kovalainen and Bruno Senna as a global representative.

Karim will attend a number of Hilton Racing functions throughout 2009 and into 2010, while continuing with his sportscar racing commitments in the LMS and at Le Mans.

Becoming a Hilton Racing ambassador is a highly competitive and selective process with only the very best candidates chosen to represent the brand. Indeed, Karim’s personal nature and spirit, as well as embodying the same high qualities and professionalism that have helped the company become the world’s leading hotel brand, ultimately proved decisive.

Commenting on his Hilton Racing Ambassadorship, Karim said, "I'm very proud to have been made a Hilton Racing ambassador as I know that careful consideration is always taken over who gets selected. It's a brand that is known the world over for its exceptional standards, service and attention to detail. Naturally, it's a real privilege to be associated with those qualities."

Robin Fenwick, Director of Sports Sponsorships and Partnerships for Hilton Hotels said: “To find the right kind of ambassador that fits with Hilton Hotel's brand attributes is vital to the success of our sports sponsorship platform. Karim clearly has the talent, enthusiasm and ambition on the track and importantly he's an intelligent and warm person to be around off it. Hilton's association with Karim will provide another dimension and deliver added value to our already successful Hilton Racing programme, so we're delighted to welcome him into the Hilton Family'.

"Karim is the type of driver with a personality which captures the spirit of what Hilton Racing is all about..."

While not competing or representing Hilton Racing, Karim will spend his time working for the Laureus World Sports Academy who recently made him an official representative. His duties will include working alongside other elite athletes offering troubled youngsters the chance to achieve through the challenge of sport.
