Winter gets Porsche Carrera Cup GB prize drive

Paul Winter will step up to the 2009 Porsche Carrera Cup GB for the next two races at Silverstone (29/30 August) as his prize for winning the 2008 Porsche Open title.Bournemouth-based Winter will race the VIP car from Porsche Motorsport as part of the package of support given by Porsche Cars GB to the Porsche Club GB's motorsport programme. Due to budget constraints, Winter has not yet raced this season, so he is really looking forward to the chance to sample the latest 911GT3 Cup car. He hopes to return to racing later in the season in his own 996-model 911GT3 Cup car. "I've been sitting out the season so far, but it’s frustrating being a spectator," said Winter."I'm extremely pleased and very excited about the prize," said the Dorset-based sportscar specialist. "I can't wait to get out in the latest model car and be out with the professional racers in the Carrera Cup. But I've got no expectations for the weekend; I just want to bring the car home safely and enjoy myself. There are a lot of very talented drivers out there."After two years racing a BMW M3, Winter stepped up to the Porsche Open for 2007 and 2008.
