Brawn GP in funds for three years

The Brawn GP Formula One team has agreed deals with new, as yet unidentified commercial backers that will guarantees its future in the race series for three years.

Talks with sponsors were concluded after the Formula One teams signed the new “Concorde Agreement” with Formula One Management earlier in the summer, putting the future of the series on a more steady footing for the foreseeable future.

“We have zero worries on funding for this year, next year, the year after, and the year after that,” Brawn chief executive Nick Fry told Autosport. “I smile when people talk about money, because we’ve always had the finances for this year, and neither Ross nor I would not have taken on the team if we did not have the money for this year.

“We've signed some nice contracts, and those will come out into the open when we launch the car next year, but we will see what happens. There is zero worry on our side.”

Autosport.com reports that the team had come into this year’s series will enough funding from former team owner Honda to keep it going for a year, until the start of 2010. The team’s current main sponsorship deal, with Virgin Group, will end later this season, after the two parties failed to agree a price for a long-term title sponsorship deal. Virgin is to sponsor the new Manor Grand Prix team, which enter Formula One for the first time next year.

The team has been linked to deals with Emirates airline, Monster energy drink, Bwin and Telmex in the past, but Fry said the identity of the sponsors would be kept secret until the launch of its 2010 car.
