Piranha Motorsport to enter British GT Series‏

At a time when the British GT series has been struggling for entries, a new team has been established and will be on the British GT grid at Brands Hatch on 19th September.

Piranha Motorsport will race a Lotus 2-11 GT4 Supersports in the GT4 category, the first such car of this type to race in the British GT series.

Piranha Motorsport considers that the Lotus 2-11 is the ideal car for the serious GT racer to enter the GT4 class of the most prestigious GT series in the UK.  Piranha is convinced that the package can take the fight to KTM X-Bow and other cars in GT4 and prove that the Lotus 2-11 is a true successor to the great Lotus road and sports racers of the past such as the Lotus 11 and Lotus 23.

Piranha Motorsports ambitions do not rest solely with the British GT series. It will also race in the Elise Trophy and Lotus Euro Cup, and will enter the Dubai 24 hour race in January 2010, with the same car, showing the versatility of the team and the Lotus 2-11 and the ability to adapt to different race strategies, tyres, set ups and approaches.

Piranha also has the ability to engineer and race other cars in other series, and has a Speed Series (nee VdeV) Juno and an ex BTCC Peugeot 307 S2000 car also in its stable.  It is also evaluating an entry into in to the new Porsche Boxster series for 2010.

A shakedown event for the new team is planned at Cadwell Park on 12 September when team Director, and former Caterham race winner and Speed Series (nee VdeV) Champion, Chris Bialan will debut the Lotus 2-11 GT4 Supersports in the Lotus Elise Trophy.  Just one week later, the team will be on the British GT grid.
