Season Finalé at Shelsley Walsh

19th September 2009 to Sunday 20th September 2009

The exciting 2009 at the World Famous Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb draws to a conclusion on the weekend of 19th and 20th September with two one-day meetings. There will be an end-of-term celebration feel to the weekend with competitors having one more blast before autumn sets in with a long winter ahead. It is your last chance in 2009 to see the historic hill tackled by enthusiastic competitors who want the late season stimulation of pitting their skills against the oldest race track of them all.

The Saturday event features a round of the Ginetta Owner's Club Speed Championship, the Reliant Scimitar & Sabre Speed Championship and the Revington Triumph TR/TR Register Sprint & Hill Climb Championship. There are also six classes of motorcycles competing in what will be a very exciting section of the event. Local driver Jon Beard from Bromyard is taking a weekend off from his regular role in the Midland Hillclimb Rescue unit to compete in his hot hatch modern classic Peugeot 205 GTi on Saturday. Shelsley Walsh watermill restoration mastermind Martyn Herridge from nearby Dunley will be out in his locally built Bewley Suzuki single-seater.

Sunday is a round of the Richard Egger Insurance/HSA Speed Championship plus rounds of the Morgan Sports Car Club 'Techniques' Speed Championship, the TVR Car Club Speed Championship and the Austin Healey Club "HealeySport" Speed Championship.

Favourite for Best Time of the Day on Sunday must be Yarkhill's Deryk Young, currently in eighth place in the 2009 MSA British Hill Climb Championship driving his Gould GR51 powered by an ex F1 Judd V8. His wife Sue, who is the Shelsley Walsh Ladies outright hill record holder will be sharing the car. Running with the Young's in the unlimited racing car class will be several large capacity cars including Welsh farmer John Jones in the fearsome ex Willem Toet Pilbeam MP88 powered by an ex Indianapolis twin turbocharged Cosworth Vee Eight

2009 sensation Will Hall is entered on both days in his dynamic little Force PC in which he holds ninth place in the MSA British Hill Climb Championship and looks certain to gain a coveted championship 'number' for 2010.

Don't miss your chance to see all the action before the curtain comes down on the 2009 Shelsley Walsh season. We look forward to welcoming you on both days.
