Team Rosberg is quite literally entering the hottest phase of the 2009 motorsport season: Awaiting the team from Neustadt an der Weinstraße are no less than five individual races at three events within nine days distributed throughout Europe. Following the fourth FIA GT3 European Championship race on 12 and 13 September in Portugal with the Audi R8 LMS, the sixth of seven ADAC GT Masters events is on the agenda only one week later at the Sachsenring. For this purpose the team transports the material 3,000 kilometres from the most south-westerly corner of Europe to Sachsen. At the same time Audi Sport Team Rosberg competes at Barcelona in the eighth round of the DTM with two Audi A4 DTM between 18 and 20 September. "During this intensive stage everything has to fit together perfectly from the logistical, technical and personal points of view,” knows Team Boss Arno Zensen. "And from the sporting side we have to be ultra competitive. Then we certainly have a chance of bringing home a good season result for Team Rosberg.” In the ADAC GT Masters regular drivers Nicolas Armindo from France and the Portuguese César Campaniço are the fourth best placed duo in the championship in seventh and eighth places. They are 13 points behind the leader with 40 points still to be awarded in the season’s remaining races. "We still have it all to play for,” explains Arno Zensen, who still regrets the points lost at the Nürburgring. "A drive-through penalty for a pit-stop just two-tenths of a second too short and a tactical mistake means that we lost two-points to the championship leaders. Now we have to reduce the gap as quickly as possible. The Sachsenring is a genuine drivers circuit which should suit Nicolas and César. We have been on the podium three times up to now, and now we want to more trophies.” The 3.645 kilometre track close to Hohenstein-Ernstthal in the countryside surrounding Chemnitz is one of the gems among German race tracks, the extremely long drawn out corners and, in part, very fast curves demand the best of both man and machine. The undulating nature of the track with gradients of up to twelve per cent make the circuit a real roller coaster ride. Sakon Yamamoto drives the second Team Rosberg entered Audi R8 LMS. The Japanese with Formula 1 experience has a new team mate from the Sachsenring onwards: Brazilian Paulo Bonifacio will share the Audi R8 LMS with Yamamoto at the remaining race weekends. Including driver change both races always last 60 minutes. DSF broadcasts the highlights on 26 September from 20:00 to 21:00. The highlights are repeated on 3 October between 09:45 and 10:45.
