Tickets are now on sale for Australia’s premier production based endurance motor race, the 2010 Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro, 12 – 14 February 2010.
Following the announcement of five support categories; Historic Touring Cars Group N, HQ Holden’s, Improved Production, Porsche GT3 Challenge and Saloon Cars - the weekend at Mt Panorama will offer the race fan plenty of variety with the annual 12 Hour Enduro headlining Sunday’s activities.
For the first time in the Event’s history Organisers are offering all school students, primary and secondary, free entry.
Bathurst 12 Hour Promoter James O’Brien believes this initiative will be well received by parents and children alike.
“Free entry for all school students provides some relief for families looking for a cost effective entertainment medium in today’s challenging economic times and will introduce a new generation to Mount Panorama and production car racing,” said O’Brien.
Four support categories are returning to the Event from 2009 and expect full grids. HQ Holdens, Improved Production, Porsche GT3 Challenge and Saloon Cars all competed in 2009 and will be joined by Historic Touring Cars Group N.
The evergreen HQ Holden category has competed at the 12 Hour for the past few years as a standalone Event on their yearly calendar, and Category Manager Dale Youd hopes to be back for more.
“We are expecting a full grid. We hope to be back at the Event every year. It’s great for the competitors as there aren’t many opportunities to race at Bathurst,” said Youd.
After three years at the Event, Saloon Cars will also be back in action again in 2010.
“We had a grid of 55 six cylinder Holden and Fords this year and there was plenty of support around for the drivers,” said Category Organiser, Les Morrall.
It was the Porsche GT3 Challenge’s first time at the Event this year with Round 1 of their national series, and the same proposed for 2010.
“Our intention is to make the Bathurst 12 Hour our hallmark Event,” explained Category Manager, Jodi Zylstra.
2010 will also be Improved Productions second year at the Event and Category Manager Garry Mennell is expecting another fierce battle for Bathurst honours.
“Adam Wallace won last year in a Turbo Charged RX3 after Ray Wislop who was leading broke a diff in his Falcon, so it will be an interesting battle next year.”

The Historic Touring Cars will be returning to the Event after a two year gap and category manager Warren Bossie is pleased to be back on the schedule.
“We are very excited to be back, it’s a great Event to be a part of. We have had a lot of interest and we’d be looking at about 40 plus cars to compete,” said Bossie.

The Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro is now in its 4th year, with a grid of over 50 cars expected to compete. The race features production cars in a class structure representative of the mass road going market. BMW, Mitsubishi, Ford, Holden, Nissan and Subaru are expected to compete for outright honours, while an Alternative Energy class is open to diesel, hybrid and LPG entries.
The Event will be televised in a 3 hour special on the SEVEN Network, through Fox Sports, New Zealand and other International Markets.
