New Base For Bulldog "A Spirited Rally With Breeding"

The Bulldog International Rally North Wales, scheduled for Saturday 27th March 2010, will move its HQ location when it becomes the first rally ever to use the new livestock market situated on the edge of Welshpool.

The 16-acre site is one of the largest livestock markets in Europe complying with new bio-security and DEFRA legislation and will provide sufficient space for 180 crews plus their support vehicles all on hard-standing. This means that all five events incorporated in the Bulldog Rally North Wales can be based together in one location for scrutineering, documentation, start, finish and prize presentations giving a more coherent and friendly feel to the rally weekend. In addition there are office facilities, on site cafe, car parking, toilets and a car wash.

Clerk of the Course Kevin Witton said "We are absolutely delighted to have found this exciting new venue to use as the base for our rally. We first heard about it two years ago and having watched the site take shape we couldn't believe our luck when the owners agreed to us using it. In addition, Powys Council and the Welshpool Tourist Office are being really supportive of the event. Welshpool is within easy access of the motorway network and within reasonable travelling distance from the classic Welsh stages. There is plenty of B&B accommodation locally and both Oswestry and Shrewsbury, where several of the larger chain hotels are situated, are within an easy 25-minute drive. It really ticks all the boxes for a rally base and I am sure this venue will enhance our event and prove popular with everyone involved in the rally."
