Max Chilton picks up some Silver

Max swapped his racesuit for something a little more formal over the course of last weekend, attending the FOTA and BRDC annual awards ceremonies to collect his silverware.

Max received recognition of his success in this season’s British F3 International Series, collecting both The Mirror.co.UK Cup and The Spencer Charrington Trophy as his reward for finishing as the highest-placed British driver in the Championship.

Speaking at the FOTA awards dinner and the BRDC awards luncheon, Max was delighted to have won the awards;

“It’s great to have some silverware at the end of the season. I’ve finished 4th in the championship with two wins and I’m proud to be the best of the British drivers.” He said. “It’s been a pretty good year and I’m especially pleased with the speed I have shown this season. I started 50% of all the races on the front row and whilst at the beginning of the season I let myself down with bad starts, by the end I had sorted that out. My confidence and experience has increased a lot this year and I want to thank Trevor Carlin, my engineer Matt Ogle, my mechanics and the whole of the Carlin team. It has been a joint effort to get to where we have and I’ve enjoyed it.”

Although he is looking forward to a restful holiday period with his family, Max is still busy with the physical training programme to prepare for next season. He has just completed a training camp in Lanzarote with Jenson Button and has more sessions planned prior to his next outing behind the wheel of a GP2 car in the Asian Series at Abu Dhabi in February.
