The Lotus on Track Racing Drivers Club, in conjunction with Motor Sport Vision Racing, announce the Brands Hatch Lotus 1000km. Taking place on 6th November, the race is sure to finish under dark skies as the competitors aim to complete around 520 laps of the 1.93km Indy loop. It follows a successful foray into the endurance format at the end of last season with a 90-minute spectacular.
The event is sure to invoke memories of the 1000km sportscar races that ran from the ‘70s to the end of the ‘80s, the list of winners including Jacky Ickx, Derek Bell, Jo Siffert, Mario Andretti, Brands Hatch owner Jonathan Palmer and, of course, Pedro Rodriguez, who will forever be remembered for a thrilling display of wet weather driving. It is hoped that conditions will be more favourable on this occasion!
LoTRDC’s Paul Golding said “we’ve always aimed to surprise and entertain with the Elise Trophy. In year one we persuaded Lotus F1 driver Martin Donnelly to take part and supported the DTM, in year two we provided a home to the new 2-Eleven and warmed up the A1GP crowds and year three played host to Jake Humprey and Andy Green, whilst holding our first endurance race. With the success of this event we had to aim high for the coming season”.
