West Surrey Racing announce plans for 2010

2009 was WSRs most successful year in touring cars winning their third successive Independent Teams Championship; with Colin Turkington securing the overall BTCC drivers crown, as well as his own hat-trick of Independent Drivers titles

With RAC announcing yesterday the continuation of their sponsorship with WSR, but no longer as title sponsor, the cars will no longer be their familiar bright orange.

Team Principal Dick Bennetts commented: Weve had four great years with RAC as title sponsor and the results on and off track have provided them with an excellent return on investment. Were very pleased theyve agreed to carry on as a co-sponsor and were looking forward to working with them in 2010.

We are obviously intending to defend our titles in the BTCC again this year. However, were also keeping our options open with regard to the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) and the new format European Touring Car Cup (ETCC). Weve got three BMW 320 Sis and we proved in 2009 that we have the resources to run all three cars to the same competitive level.

As it stands, a golden opportunity exists for a company to take up title sponsorship of the most successful non-works BMW team in Europe.

Wed very much like to retain Colin and Stephen (Jelley); however we are talking to a number of other drivers for the third seat. Were not just looking at drivers from tin tops either, as Stephen has proved that you dont have to have this background to be a competitive touring car driver.

Were also delighted to announce we have two new partners for 2010, eBay Motors and Alvara.

eBay Motors is the UK's largest online automotive marketplace, where you can buy and sell everything from used cars and motorcycles to commercial vehicles, car parts and accessories. With over 3 million unique visitors every month, a car sells every two minutes on eBayMotors.co.uk.

Alvara is the new brand of High Efficiency Plasma Lighting', which uses less than half the power of existing lighting technologies. The range was launched in November 2009 by Ceravision Ltd, the world leader in energy efficient plasma lighting. WSR and Ceravision have had a technology partnership for the past two years with WSR now using the new Alvara lighting technology in their motorsport facility.

Tim Reynolds CEO Ceravision says: "WSR have been at the forefront of motor sport engineering for many years and Ceravision are delighted to extend our technology partnership with WSR into 2010 and beyond. The motorsport environment is an ideal platform to test, and develop our many revolutionary energy saving lighting systems utilising Ceravisions Alvara High Efficiency Plasma Technology"
