ROCKSTAR MAKITA SUZUKI READY FOR SAN DIEGO

Rockstar Makita Suzuki is busy practicing and preparing for Round 5 of the AMA/ FIM Supercross series at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium this weekend.

The team’s rookie racing sensation Ryan Dungey has had an amazing start to the 2010 season and is currently the points leader in the highly-competitive class.

Dungey put together a great race effort in San Francisco, leading the first half of the Main Event and putting more than nine seconds between him and the competition. His foot caught in a rut half way through the race, which ended in a get-off. Dungey was uninjured and able to remount his bike and finish a solid fourth, the first time this season he wasn’t on the podium after the Main Event. “I’m thankful that I’m alright and healthy,” Dungey said. “This week in practice I’m working on just bits and pieces. I’m going to come back and be ready for San Diego.”

Dungey is looking to add to that lead in San Diego and Team Manager Roger DeCoster is helping him hone in on his goals. “We left San Francisco with the points lead; we gave up a few points, but to get up after a crash like that is a good thing,” DeCoster said. “We didn’t have any issues with the bike, so we’re focusing on making sure Ryan’s healthy for San Diego.”

The RM-Z450 has had a banner year so far, thanks to its fuel injection and the skills of the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team. The bike has gotten the holeshot in every Main Event this season, as well as most of the holeshots in the heat races. Look for the Suzuki to be at the front of the pack in San Diego to continue that tradition of great starts.
