Shelley returns to Porsche Carrera Cup GB

Andrew Shelley will return to racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season, six years on from his last foray intro the championship. The Yorkshireman has signed for a full campaign with Red Line Racing, the team with which he started racing Porsches a decade ago. After racing in the Porsche Cup around the turn of the millennium, Shelley tackled selected races in the 2004 Carrera Cup. He later progressed to the FIA GT3 Championship where he raced a Porsche 911GT3RS during the 2008 season. Now, after a year out of racing, he is excited about a return to the Carrera Cup."I had a year out and I really missed the racing," he said. "The Carrera Cup is the most level playing field out there; it's proper competition and it is very well policed. There are some very good drivers out there. I'm a reasonable amateur and it will be great to race against some top drivers."Shelley is delighted to be renewing his association with Red Line Racing, the team that guided him through his early years in the sport. "I've always had a great respect for Simon Leonard and the team," said Shelley.Leonard is pleased to have confirmed another driver for his multi-car team, with Michael Meadows and Archie Hamilton already settled with the Cleveland-based team. "We're delighted to have Andrew back in the team; he's a real team player," said Leonard. He's going to race in pro-am1 and he will be a serious contender."
