Fuchs Silkolene British Supersport Championship Team GNS Racing attended the Portsmouth Motorcycles open weekend, where fans met 2010 riders Sam Lowes and Paul Jordan, and declared the event a major success.
The Southampton-based team, owned by Gary Stubbington, were on hand to help launch three new Honda models, the VFR1200F, the VT1300CX and the VT750C2B, and as well as having their 2010 race machinery on display, they entertained hundreds of fans who attended over the weekend.
Gary Stubbington, GNS Team Owner: "We had a brilliant time at Portsmouth Motorcycles and everything went well. It was good to meet up with local fans and to introduce the team to them so I'd like to thank Fred Watson of Portsmouth Motorcycles for inviting us. I am lucky to have dedicated team members who have helped me achieve setting up this new team. Special thanks go to John Harris who sprays the fairings and helps with the logistical side of the team and of course to Phil Voler of Artistic Licence and Mark Ward of Mach Engineering."
Fred Watson, Managing Director, Portsmouth Motorcycles: "Having known Gary for some time and his previous achievements with the Honda CBR600RR in British Supersport racing, I was pleased to hear the news that he had formed GNS Racing for the 2010 season, also that Portsmouth Motorcycles could be privileged to be associated with this exciting new venture in the championship. Myself and my staff at Portsmouth Motorcycles are great fans and supporters of all motorcycle racing, intending now to give our full support to Gary and his team, who we have all met personally, whilst they gave us massive help with our successful Valentine weekend launch of the new Honda VFR1200F.
"We look forward to the 2010 race season and beyond, when we are sure that GNS Racing and their experience with the Honda CBR600RR will be a force to be reckoned with, also Sam Lowes and Paul Jordan are well motivated to bring success for Gary's team, so can't wait for Brands Hatch at Easter!"
Sam Lowes, #11 Team Rider: "Portsmouth Motorcycles put on a mega show all weekend and presented the new bikes well. I enjoyed representing GNS racing and Honda all weekend and it has made me even more revved up and motivated for the season. The weekend was very enjoyable and it was good to get to spend more time with Gary and Paul ahead of the season. Now I can't wait to get started next week after a long winter of hard training now it's time to start work properly."
Paul Jordan, #61 Team Rider: "We had a fantastic weekend at Portsmouth Motorcycles and it was great to see so many race fans turn up and it was good to meet up with the team too. I'm really looking forward to the season and can't wait to start testing the GNS Racing Honda soon and hope that I have a good season for myself, for the team and of course, for our sponsors."
The team is busy with preparations for a hectic pre-season testing schedule which will start with a post-winter shakedown at Brands Hatch this forthcoming Sunday before a pair of Spanish tests at Cartagena in Spain from March 4th to 6th and then at Guadix on March 9th and 10th. The final test takes place with the official BSB test day at Brands Hatch on 17th March in readiness for the first race at Brands Hatch over Easter (April 3rd to 5th).
