Harvey ready to challenge for Porsche Carrera Cup GB title

Tim Harvey says that he is as eager to get racing as he ever has been after confirming plans to contest the Porsche Carrera Cup GB again with Red Line Racing. Heading into his 28th consecutive season of competing at the forefront of British motor racing, Harvey will be one of the key title contenders and wants to regain the title he won in 2008."I'm as enthusiastic, competitive and excited as I've ever been; I can't wait," said Harvey. "This is my 28th consecutive season of racing and that's fairly unusual, particularly at this level. The Carrera Cup is the biggest and best national championship and it is great to be part of it."Despite having nearly three decades of racing under his belt, Tim says that he is as keen as ever to get the season started. "I was like a kid with a new toy when I was running in my new car at Snetterton last week," he said. "I was still as keen to get up at 5am and drive to Snetterton as I was when I went to Brands Hatch to test my Formula Ford in 1983."Harvey has an unrivalled record in the Carrera Cup GB as he heads into his seventh full season in the championship. He won the title in 2008 and has finished in the championship top four in each of the last six seasons, finishing runner-up in 2004, 2006 and 2007. In his Carrera Cup career to date, Harvey has won 24 races and claimed 87 podium finishes, 25 more than any other driver. Harvey will again lead the Red Line Racing squad. "Last year was a fantastic year and we went into the final race with a chance of the title," he said. "If I'm in contention again this year, that is all I can ask for. I really enjoy racing against the new crop of young drivers and I know I can still improve. I'm confident that the team will give me a car to challenge for the title and then it's down to what happens on the day."Backing for Harvey continues to come from Nationwide Accident Repair Services PLC, which will be using the racing programme to promote its Mobile Restore and Motor Glass divisions. Additional backing is from Loctite, Datapulse and S P Fleet.
