Talented young motor racing star Kieren Clark of Cambridge, has spoken of his delight at being invited onto the hugely prestigious 2010 ‘Rising Star’ programme of the Silverstone based British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC). The award is recognition of his outstanding performances in the Formula Renault BARC championship last season, winning the title with 8 wins in 2009.
"Obviously I'm delighted and would like to thank the BRDC for this opportunity," said Kieren. "It's an honour to have my performances noted by one of motorsports most regarded clubs, and I consider it a real privilege to be part of the BRDC Rising Star programme."
“We’re working very hard to attract more commercial partners and sponsors to continue marking our success in motor racing, and being a Rising Star of the British Racing Drivers’ Club will definitely help improve my profile.”
The BRDC was inaugurated in 1928 with several key objectives – to promote the general interests of motorsport, to celebrate specific performances in motor racing and to promote the interests of British drivers competing on an international stage, and the current President is 1996 Formula One World Champion Damon Hill. The BRDC is the society which owns Silverstone Grand Prix circuit and counts every current and former F1, Le Mans and World Rally driver in its membership. The BRDC bestows its “Rising Star” status to a few of the most promising young drivers under 24 years old each year and this award gives a tremendous status and profile boost.
