ANNOUNCING THE UK’S FIRST 6 HOUR RACE FOR CLASSIC CLUB COMPETITORS, SNETTERTON – 15 AUGUST 2010
The newly established 360 Motor Racing Club are delighted to announce a 6 hour (360 minute) motor race specifically for club level racers in the UK.
The race will take place at Snetterton on 15 August 2010 and is designed for Classic Cars (Saloons and GT's) from models produced between 1968 and 1986, with a maximum capacity of 3.5 litres.
The 360 Motor Racing Club has been established by a group of enthusiasts with links to each other via the Ten-Tenths motor sport forum. The group have spotted an opening in the club racing market for genuine club racers to participate in a not for profit making event designed to deliver an experience similar to the classic Spa 6 hour races, the Willhire endurance races of old and the more modern Britcar experience, but without the complexity or costs.
The 360 Motor Racing Club will run this event as a stand alone, annual race. The aim is for maximum track time and value for money, and to re-introduce a spirit of adventure and endurance into club racing. The club is expecting a grid of about 30, but can accommodate entries for up to 45 cars.
Prime movers behind the event include John Smith, who is well known within the historic racing scene; he is Race Director for Masters Racing and Clerk of the Course at International historic races in both the UK and Europe he will be clerking the event. Another prime mover and Chairman of the 360 Motor Racing Club is Claire Smith. Claire, who will also be on the Clerking team for the event commented that,
“This event has the potential to be the cheapest endurance race available in Europe and a great event – we are looking at entry fees of approximately £850-900 if we get 30 cars, an even smaller entry fee if we get more. We have already had interest from enough people to fill half the grid including entrants from Europe. A lot of work to make this happen has already gone on behind the scenes and we know that we can make this work. We have a great technical, PR and organising committee made of experienced competitors, officials and technical experts such as Andy Yeomans, Terry Bower, Mike Sweeney and Peter Mallett and John is in my book one of the best international Clerks in the country; together its a dream team"
