Monster name for MotoGP French Grand Prix

Hot on the heels of their helmet deal with Valentino Rossi - Monster brand the French GP

Length of contract: 2 yearsAnnualised value: US$2 millionOverall value: US$4 million

The drinks brand Monster Energy will be the title sponsor of the MotoGP French Grand Prix at Le Mans for the next two seasons.

The deal, likely to be worth an annual US$2 million, is the first that Monster has agreed for a MotoGP event. However, it is the title sponsor of the Yamaha Tech 3 MotoGP team and a personal sponsor of reigning and nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi.

Dorna Sports S.L., which manages marketing rights for Moto GP, brokered the sponsorship. Its managing director Pau Serracanta said: "We are extremely pleased that Monster Energy want MotoGP to be part of their plan to raise their brand profile internationally. Monster Energy already had a presence in the FIM MotoGP World Championship courtesy of their partnerships with riders and teams and the French Grand Prix title sponsorship allows them to further build on those links with the pinnacle of motorcycle racing."

Bruce Stjernstrom, vice president of sports marketing at Monster Energy, called MotoGP "the premiere form of motorcycle racing", adding: "Sponsoring the Grand Prix de France is yet another example of our belief and dedication to MotoGP."

The 2010 Monster Energy Grand Prix de France will take place on May 21-23.
