Round 2: Malcolm Wilson Rally - 6th MarchThe 30 crews contesting the MSA English Rally Championship were met by wintry conditions at Cockermouth for the Malcolm Wilson Rally, with the seven stages around the Cumbrian forests featuring a mix of ice and snow that made tyre choice a lottery.Matt Edwards and Sam Collis negotiated the treacherous conditions to claim victory by almost a minute from round one winners Darren Pinchin and Karen Watts. The result leaves the two pairs tied on points heading into the third round of the championship, the Somerset Stages.Last year’s MSA English Rally Champion Jon Ballinger was one of many drivers to slide off the road on the Greystoke stage, though he managed to rejoin and subsequently win his class to move up to third place in the championship.
