Buurman becomes AC Milan’s latest Dutch masteres

Yelmer Buurman will become the latest in a long line of talented Dutchman to don the famous Rossoneri of AC Milan when he makes his Superleague Formula by Sonangol bow for the Italian giants during this season’s opening round at Silverstone on April 3/4.

The 23-year-old will be hoping to add his name to the list of Dutch greats that include the likes of Gullet, Kluivert, Rijkaard, Davids, Seedorf and Van Basten to have become synonymous with the seven-time European Cup winners.

And his record so far in the football-themed championship suggests that he’s ready to do just that having finished second and fourth overall while competing for PSV Eindhoven and RSC Anderlecht in 2008 and ’09.

Milan meanwhile finished seventh in the final standings last season after a late slump in form saw them drop out of the top four.

“I am happy to be back in Superleague Formula and I look forward to scoring for a top club,” said Buurman.

“AC Milan is one of the best clubs in the world and I am proud to defend their honours. After being second and fourth in the championship over the last two years I will now go for the top. I only have one aim and that is winning the championship for and with AC Milan. I am ready for it and I’d like to thank everyone at Atech GP for their confidence in my capabilities.”

The opening round of the 2010 Superleague Formula season kicks off at Silverstone on April 3/4.
