Wraps come off the Porsche Carrera Cup GB
The wraps came off the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Silverstone today (Wednesday 17 March) when the capacity 28-car entry list was unveiled during the annual pre-season test and media day.Following unprecedented competitor demand, the Carrera Cup GB was declared full several weeks ago, with a 28-car entry confirmed from a total of 10 teams.Among the field will be drivers from Oman (Ahmad Al Harthy) and Lithuania (Jonas Gelzinis and Tautvydas Barstys). Al Harthy has signed to race with Red Line Racing, bringing the Cleveland-based team up to a six-car squad, while Gelzinis and Barstys will race with Juta Racing. Having previously contested Carrera Cup Sweden, the Lithuanian team is now based in England in order to compete in a full season of Carrera Cup GB.Other new names on the entry list include Richard Denny (Parr Motorsport) and Ray Dias (GT Marques). Dias will join Alex Martin in the two-car squad from GT Marques, with Martin looking to build on the experience he gained in selected Carrera Cup outings last year. Meanwhile, returning for a third season to contest the pro-am1 title is Tony Gilham.At the head of the action will be eight drivers in the pro category; Tim Harvey, Glynn Geddie, Michael Meadows, Euan Hankey, Tom Bradshaw, Michael Caine, Stephen Jelley and Charles Bateman.The contest for the pro-am1 and pro-am2 categories will be just as fierce, with 11 drivers in pro-am1 and nine in pro-am2.The Carrera Cup GB season starts at Thruxton (Hampshire) over the weekend of 3/4 April.
