Dan Holland Racing is targeting success in the junior and senior categories of this year’s Super 1 Rotax championship, starting this weekend (20-21 March) at PFi in Lincolnshire.
If it is to achieve this ambition, a key factor will surely be the team’s strength in depth. DHR boasts a large, talented squad consisting of young chargers and proven race-winners.
Jack Barlow, George Williams and Sean Babington form the line-up in Junior Max and have all impressed their team boss in pre-season testing, as Dan Holland comments: “George has demonstrated some blistering pace recently, which is very encouraging. He’s always quick and is improving all the time as a driver. If he can turn that pace into results, he’ll be awesome.
Jack is pure quality. He’s such an exciting driver and knows how to handle pressure, raise his game and win big races. He and George are working hard together and will push each other hard throughout the season.
This will be Sean’s second year in the class and like Jack, he knows how to win championships [Sean was the 2007 Junior TKM 4-Stroke Super 1 champion] and has all the right credentials to win again.”
Ryan Morgan is the team’s sole representative in the Mini Max division, but Dan is mindful not to put his young charge under any pressure: “This is a learning year for Ryan. Super 1 and Mini Max are all new to him, but that’s not to say he won’t impress and he has been particularly strong in the wet - so if it rains at PFi you never know…”
Turning his attentions to his senior drivers, he says: “In Jack Dex, Alex Magee and Ross Wylie we have three really fantastic talents. Jack is consistently fast and has taken some fine club wins in recent months. If he can transfer those elements to his Super 1 campaign, I see no reason why he can’t be a major contender. Similarly, with Ross Wylie - who’s a very smooth, canny driver. This is probably his last year in karts before he goes to cars and he’s incredibly motivated to make sure he goes out on a high.”
Like Dex, this is Alex Magee’s first full season in the senior top-flight but much is expected of him, as Dan says: “Alex was something of a revelation when he stepped up from Junior to Senior Max. He took a string of excellent finishes and is another with great potential.”
Tom Pyttlik returns for his second season with the team and is looking to be a consistent top ten finisher.
“He’s another who is much improved but we still need to work on a few areas to make sure his undoubted pace becomes a constant, rather than a variable. Once we’ve done that, he’ll be mega.”
The DHR team will campaign the FA Victory chassis and Ogden-tuned engines. For more information on the 2010 Alonso kart, or to arrange a track test call Dan Holland on 07960 047810 or email dan@danhollandracing.co.uk
