HANS Andersen secured a fine win in Coventry's hugely successful Brandonapolis individual event.The Belle Vue man got the better of Rory Schlein in the final after World Champion Jason Crump retired.Said Andersen: "I always enjoy coming to this track, the line-up for the meeting was good and it also gave me the opportunity to test things out, andthey seemed to go alright! "It's very early days but I felt good on the bike after making a lot of changes over the winter, and it's nice to be able to make starts and out gat esome of the other top boys, which you have to do if you're going to win things."

WOLVERHAMPTON won the Elite Shield in style with a 50-40 win at Lakeside to complete the double over the Hammers.Freddie Lindgren was unstoppable with a 15-point maximum and he had good backing from skipper Tai Woffinden on 10+1.Said Lindgren: "We didn't just come here to defend our lead and I think that showed in our performance. It's nice to get an away win and now we have to keep it going against Swindon in our first league match on Monday."

LEIGH Adams was at his brilliant best to inspire Swindon to a 47-43 win at Eastbourne in the opening Elite League meeting of the season.And he had solid support from debut boy Tomas H Jonasson with 12+2. Ex-RobinMatej Zagar was the top Eastbourne man with 11 on his Eagles bow.Robins boss Ronnie Russell said: "We've put a lot of hard work into preparing for this meeting with some laps on our small training track. It's a lovely way to start the league campaign for us."

(SPEEDWAY 4) GLASGOW staged a stunning fight back to restrict Edinburgh to a 51-45 first leg lead in the Spring Trophy at Armadale. Ex-Monarch James Grieves romped to a 17-point haul for the Tigers and new signing Travis McGowan notched 13. Both riders also won tactical rides.Tigers boss Stewart Dickson said: "I'm satisfied with the performances ofour team and the two maximums at the end give us a real shout for the returnleg today (Sunday, 4pm)."
