With the 2010 BSB season starting this weekend at Brands Hatch, KYMCO UK is looking forward to racing ahead with Team AZTEC UK, who this year will be seriously contending for podium positions at each of the 125cc championship rounds with team riders Danny Kent and Andy Reid.
The new marketing partnership between Team AZTEC GP and MASCO, the concessionaire for KYMCO in the UK, was formally announced at Oulton Park at the end of last year’s BSB season. The 2010 partnership will see KYMCO’s branding on the team’s GP125 race bikes, supported by KYMCO’s Scooters and Motorcycles being showcased at each of the BSB race events. MASCO will also continue its current arrangement of supplying the team with KYMCO paddock Scooters.
Ian Kidson, Managing Director for MASCO (Motorcycle and Scooter Company) said; “2010 promises to be a decisive year for Team AZTEC GP, and this makes it a very exciting time for us to become involved. They are a highly technical and ambitious race team, which showed at the end of the 2009 season by signing Danny Kent, who finished 4th in the “RedBull Rookies” championship as the top British rider and 5th place in the last BSB event of 2009.
This determination has followed through into 2010 with the team investing in a two man team as well as appointing a new Commercial Director, Neil Clayton. And, let’s not forget the bike which AZTEC’s engineering and design team have worked to further enhance technically using their F1 racing pedigree - the results achieved during pre-season testing in Spain recently were very encouraging.
Ian adds: “We are proud to support Team AZTEC. They are a true British race team, technically and commercially, with the only British manufacture and engineered 125cc race bike in the championship and two of the best young British talents riding for them.”
Kevin Molloy, Media and Partner Director for Team AZTEC GP said: “There are many brand synergies between AZTEC GP and MASCO in relation to their ambitions for KYMCO in the UK and globally. It was important for us, being a team focused on engineering and design excellence that we worked to promote a brand with equal attributes. KYMCO’s Scooters and Motorcycles have a worldwide reputation for quality, which combined with their specialism in the design and production of lower-capacity 2-wheel machines, made this the ideal partnership. By working with MASCO to promote KYMCO in the UK, we can both mutually gain from this co-branding opportunity.”
“The excitement surrounding Team AZTEC this year provides a great opportunity for MASCO to promote the KYMCO brand to a new audience and interact with new customers for the benefit of our network of dealers. I firmly believe that we can prosper from each other’s successes on the track and road,” concluded Ian.
Team AZTEC GP has also secured additional long term support partnerships with Base Chemicals and the Doodson Broking Group.
