MSA British Cadet Kart Championship

Round 1: Rowrah, 2nd-4th AprilThe MSA British Cadet Kart Championship opened its 2010 account at Rowrah at the weekend with the first of six doubleheader rounds run by Formula Kart Stars. On an overcast Saturday it was local expert Nathan Aston who triumphed, recording the fastest time in qualifying and winning both of his heats before holding off a determined challenge from Connor Jupp.Aston was also looking good for a repeat win on Sunday, for although Vaughan set the pace in qualifying, the Dalston-based driver came through to win both of his heats and claim pole for the final. With the sun shining down on the Cumbrian venue the Cadets staged the race of the weekend, Aston soon finding himself shuffled down the order as a group of 15 karts circulated together with positions changing almost at every corner.Eventually Welsh Champion Tom Harvey dived underneath TJ Nelson on the approach to the Stewart Esses to take the win. Rory Cuff, a heat winner on both days, completed the Sunday podium. Results - Saturday Final1 Nathan Aston, 16m30.83s 2 Connor Jupp, +0.21s3 Max Vaughan4 James Kellett5 TJ Nelson6 Rory CuffFastest lap: Kellett, 54.38sResults - Sunday Final1 Tom Harvey, 16m29.91s2 TJ Nelson, +0.09s3 Rory Cuff4 Callum Ilott5 Philip Rawson6 Dean MacdonaldFastest lap: Macdonald, 54.20s
