Piscopo in Auto GP with DAMS

Auto GP adds another important name to its entry list. Edoardo Piscopo, who was among thefirst drivers showing interest in the series concept, has signed a deal with DAMS to be on thechampionship grid from the first event, to be held in Brno on April 25th.

22 years-old, from Rome, Piscopo is one of the best talents in Italian motorsport, often amongthe top runners throughout his career. Apart from being very quick, Piscopo is a mentally verysolid racer, something that he obtained racing far from home when he was very young. In2005, at the age of 17, he decided to race in the F.Bmw USA and to live near his team’sheadquarter in Indianapolis, managing to close the series 3rd in the standings.

In 2006 he got back to Italy, and raced in the Italian F.Renault, again with a final 3rd place. In 2008, Edoardohad his best season so far, finishing runner-up in the Italian F.3 Championship; in that year,he clinched 7 wins, 8 pole positions and eleven podium finishes, results that gave him thechance to fulfill the dream of every Italian racer, testing for the Ferrari F.1 team.In 2009 Piscopo raced in A1GP with Team Italy, and then decided to compete in Formula 2.

However, being frustrated by lots of mechanical failures, he decided to leave the series beforethe end of the season, focusing on a GP2 Asia experience with DAMS. The feeling wasimmediate, the performance was good, so the duo decided to race together also in Auto GP.

I’m sure thathaving already worked with DAMS in GP2 Asia, he will be fast from the very first sessions.

My aim for the season is to be quick, but also very consistentbecause, in order to win the prize money, collecting points in both the weekend’s races will bevital”.
