Youngsters with an interest in motorsport looking for a free and interesting day out should look no further than the Castle Combe Circuit's 'Cadet Open Day', which takes place on Saturday April 24. The circuit is unique in offering those between the ages of 11 and 16 the opportunity to become 'junior marshals' or cadets at race meetings. The open day gives an insight into the activities and how to become involved. A number of varied skills can be learnt, including first aid. There is the opportunity to study some of the cars at close quarters and sit in a single seater race car and a rally car, with a free photo as a souvenir. Parents and guardians are also welcome to attend. Being a cadet marshal gives a youngster a special insight into what goes on at a race meeting and what is involved in being a full blooded marshal, which has a minimum age of 16. The circuit's Performance Car Action Day takes place on the same day and free entry to this is also included, to all those registered. The event will be based mainly at the Wiltshire College building, close to the paddock, starting at 10-00 am and finishing at 3-00 pm. Anyone interested in attending should contact Steve Weston on 0117 947 7963 or email him at castlecombecadets@yahoo.co.uk, by no later than Tuesday 20th April.
