Tough weekend for Team Rosberg at ADAC GT Masters opener
Team Rosberg, based in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, had an awkward weekend at the ADAC GT Masters season opener. Heavy traffic in the first race and a wet and rainy Motorsport Arena Oschersleben in the second race prevented a better result than ninth position. The squad under Team Boss Arno Zensen, which contests its second GT season with the Audi R8 LMS, only announced its second driver pairing just before the first race weekend: Former DTM driver Johannes Seidlitz shared the number "8” Audi R8 LMS with Austrian Bernd Herndlhofer. For both drivers and their team mates Michael Ammermüller and Kenneth Heyer in the number "7” it was the first race in the customer sportscar from Ingolstadt.Things looked promising with Seidlitz/Herndlhofer starting from fifth on the grid for the first race. A ninth position was the reward after 39 laps. "It’s a shame that the two so narrowly missed scoring points. Nevertheless it was a good performance considering it was their first race in the Audi R8 LMS,” says Zensen. Ammermüller/Heyer moved rapidly through the field from thirteenth on the grid – also thanks to the third fastest race lap recorded by former Formula 1 test driver Ammermüller: "Better than tenth was unfortunately not possible, as we were frequently stuck in traffic behind our rivals, otherwise we could have easily finished fifth or sixth.” A wet track for race two greeted the ADAC GT Masters championship field. "An absolute lottery,” says Michael Ammermüller. "We drove with slicks, our team mates with rain tyres, but events didn’t run very well for either of us. We simply lacked experience with this car in the wet. Next time we’ll be much better prepared.” Arno Zensen underlined this: "We have to improve before the second race weekend at the Sachsenring at the beginning of May. However, I’m confident that we’ll manage this. After this weekend we’ll complete some more tests with the Audi R8 LMS.”
