POOLE'S team plans have become clearer with confirmation that former World Under-21 Champion Rafal Dobrucki is in talks with the club.Dobrucki, who rode for Oxford in 2004, could well be Dorset-bound this year, and in addition the Pirates' Russian target Renat Gafurov is to sit an English test later this week with a view to obtaining a work permit - and youngster Kyle Newman has been handed a doubling-up position.Pirates chief Matt Ford said: "Negotiations have been under way with Rafal and we have effectively agreed terms although nothing has yet been signed as there is one small issue regarding a mechanic for him to be resolved."Rafal also had concerns over whether he could commit to a full British season after a hectic time in 2004 over here but I am delighted to say that he feels that he can fulfill a full term with us."

SCUNTHORPE are celebrating being named the 2010 Track of the Year in an award determined on marks awarded by the sport's referees.The Eddie Wright Raceway took the honours overall as well as at Premier and National League levels, with Wolverhampton again named as the top Elite League circuit.Scorpions boss Rob Godfrey said: "This has been a long time coming and finally confirms what I have believed for the last six seasons. We have a fantastic race track which provides some absolutely amazing racing."We have unlimited amounts of material available, permanent use of a motorway blade and an excellent track team of Graham Trollope and John Priestley. Good track preparation on one night can rely a little on luck but to provide a track of consistently high standards you need the right ingredients and at Scunthorpe we are lucky because we have them."

STOKE will race at National League level this season after their application to join the sport's third tier was accepted at Tuesday's AGM.Potters boss Dave Tattum took the decision to switch from the Premier League shortly after the end of the 2010 campaign and is now moving forward with team plans.Tattum said: "I'm pleased we've now got the formalities out of the way and we can now start building the side for the new season."It's been a difficult period of time for us over the last few months as we've been waiting around for things to be cleared up in both the Elite and Premier Leagues and this has held up our preparation, but now it's full steam ahead and we're looking forward to putting a side together that can challenge for honours this coming season."A full statement from the National League AGM is expected shortly.

DUDLEY Heathens have completed the signing of former Great Britain squad member Adam Roynon to boost their National League challenge this year.The 22-year-old is set for a busy season as he will also be competing for Redcar in the Premier League and has been named as No.8 for King's Lynn in the top-flight.Roynon said: "I'm really excited by this and I can't wait to meet the fans. It's all about winning races and building my confidence and that's what I intend to do for the Heathens."I've heard all about their reputation and the big following they have so I'm looking forward to coming along to the special night they are having on February 25 and meeting some of them."
