Potential racing drivers are being offered a golden opportunity to begin a career in motorsport thanks to a new single-seater scholarship which offers a fully funded drive in the 2012 Formula Renault BARC Championship - a prize worth an incredible £100,000.
Single-Seater Star 2012, which is headed up by Competitions Manager Roger Belcher, is open to anyone over 16-years-of-age prior to the start of the evaluation process.
For a one-off entry fee of £469, entrants will potentially be able to progress through three knock-out stages of competition - the final of which will take place at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome in Leicestershire on Tuesday, 27th September.
Entry to the competition couldn't be simpler with online registrations and payments now being accepted at the singleseaterstar.co.uk website.
The portal also contains full details of every aspect of the contest, frequently asked questions and the official Terms and Conditions. The closing date for entries is Sunday, 31st July, with the opening karting based evaluations taking place at Rye House in Hertfordshire and Three Sisters Circuit in Lancashire in mid-August.
Rounds two and three will then follow at Bruntingthorpe in late September where drivers will take to the track in a range of vehicles including a Westfield, Skid-Car, race-prepped VW Lupo and Ariel Atom. Incredible £100,000 prize package to the winner...
The eventual winner will scoop a tremendous prize package. In addition to a fully-funded season of racing in Formula Renault BARC, a testing programme and membership of the British Automobile Racing Club, the winner will attain National B licence status - if so required - and will take part in a range of fitness assessments.
They will also receive personalised Puma overalls. Roger Belcher, Competitions Manager of Dreamcraft Competitions, said: "I'm very proud to launch the Single-Seater Star 2012 scholarship. We're confident with the format we have chosen we will unearth a future motor racing star and give one deserving driver a superb start to a potential career in motorsport. "There have been a number of other scholarships but we believe Single-Seater Star 2012 stands out as offering the best possible value for money, the fairest assessments and an exceptional prize. The team which will run the winning driver will be announced after the closing date at the end of July."
Formula Renault BARC is one of the foremost junior single-seater categories in Europe and, unlike some other categories at present, continues to thrive with strong grid numbers.
Very much an ideal middle-ground between karting and the upper echelons of single-seater racing, the championship provides perfect schooling for the best young motorsport talent. Featuring state-of-the-art Renault engined cars, which produce 192bhp and are capable of 150mph, a typical Formula Renault BARC season runs over 12 rounds and visits the premier circuits in the UK, including world renowned tracks such as Silverstone and Brands Hatch. Single-Seater Star 2012 really is a fantastic opportunity for any aspiring racer to gain a foothold in the world of motorsport.
