NEWCASTLE have been honoured with the prestigious Team of the Year award at a major awards ceremony - ahead of the city's Championship-winning football club.The Diamonds collected the Knockout Cup, Premier Trophy and play-off titles in 2010, and riders Jason King and Rene Bach joined club officials at the event.Co-promoter George English said: "We are delighted to once again collect an award from Sport Newcastle and it just reminds everyone how well we did last year in collecting the three national titles."It just makes us even more determined to make sure that 2011 is equally as successful for the club."

DAVEY Watt will reveal plans for his Testimonial meeting at a special launch event at Poole on Wednesday evening.The Pirates skipper is celebrating a decade in speedway with his big night coming on August 31, and he says his meeting will be put together with the supporters in mind.Watt said: "I am determined to give the fans a really special occasion. I am well aware that I have had ten great years in the sport and the fans have helped to keep me where I am now. So I am thinking that the day is for them, as much as it is about me."I already have a few ideas about making it a memorable night and, with so many of my mates pitching in to help me out I know it's going to be awesome."
