Millroy Heads Final Day Of Testing At Croft For Manor

Ollie Millroy, one of the pre-season favourites for the 2011 Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship title, continued his strong testing form at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire this week - ending day one inside the top three and rounding out day two on top of the timesheets for Manor Competition.On Tuesday, 8th March, Claygate racer Millroy set the pace in the opening session at the 2.12-mile track with a time of 1m17.050 seconds (99.28mph) ahead of team-mate Alice Powell who was just 0.4 seconds shy. Manor's Jordan King was sixth with a time of 1m18.985 seconds (96.85mph) while Josh Hill was just four 1,000ths of a second further back in seventh for the New Ollerton team. In session two, it was Powell's turn to sit atop the timesheets with a lap of 1m16.992 seconds (99.36mph) from the Chipping Norton driver. King was third quickest, less than 0.3 seconds behind, while Hill was sixth fastest, within 0.7 seconds of Powell's pace. Millroy sat out the session.During the third and final run of the day, which proved to be the quickest, Millroy was third fastest with a time of 1m16.321 seconds (100.23mph) and Powell lapped with a best of 1m16.524 seconds (99.96mph) to place fifth overall. Farnham-based Hill and Harbury driver King were a 10th of a second each further back in sixth and seventh position respectively.Millroy returned to the top of the timesheets during the first of today's sessions, Wednesday, 9th March, with a lap of 1m17.884 seconds (98.22mph). Powell was third quickest while King was seventh and Hill rounded out the top 10.In session two, Millroy led the Manor charge once more with the third quickest time of 1m17.247 seconds (99.03mph) before scorching to the top spot again during the final run to conclude day two with a best of 1m16.467 seconds (100.04mph) - Wednesday's fastest of all.Hill moved strongly into the front-running mix during session three with the fourth fastest lap of the day, 1m16.900 seconds (99.48mph), while King was just a couple of 10ths of a second slower in fifth position overall with a time of 1m17.142 seconds (99.16mph). Powell ended day two ninth quickest with her best lap of 1m17.406 seconds (98.83mph)."It's been a good couple of days at Croft", said team co-owner Sarah Shaw, "All of the drivers did a tremendous job and Ollie looked very strong indeed. It's really competitive at the front as always in Formula Renault UK and the great thing is that Alice, Jordan, Josh and Ollie have all been going really well - they all have the pace to be regular podium contenders this season."Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship testing will continue next week on Tuesday, 15th March, and Wednesday, 16th March, at Silverstone in Northamptonshire. Day one of the test will be run on the National Circuit configuration (venue for rounds 19 and 20 of the 2011 championship) while day two will take place on the full Grand Prix layout (the venue for rounds 13 and 14).
