Omans Al Harthy Confirms Porsche Carrera Cup GB Return

Omani racing driver Ahmad Al Harthy is delighted to confirm he will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship this year thanks to the continued backing of some of the Sultanate's largest and most prestigious businesses. At a specially arranged press conference in his home city of Muscat today, Sunday, 13th March, the 29-year-old's outstanding portfolio of sponsors for the coming season has been revealed: * Oman Air increases its commercial involvement as full title sponsor for 2011 * Telecommunications company Nawras continues its support for a second season * National Bank of Oman, the Sultanate's second largest bank, reconfirms its backing * Brand Oman, Ministry of Sports Affairs and Ministry of Tourism all continue their support * Al Harthy to continue role as Brand Ambassador for each prestigious commercial partner Following on from a tremendous debut season of sportscar racing in Porsche Carrera Cup GB last year, where he achieved six podium results on his way to fourth overall in the Pro-Am 1 Class driver standings, Ahmad will return this year with the renowned Redline Racing team. "I'm absolutely delighted to be able to confirm my return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this year, it's a fantastic championship", he said, "I have to thank Oman Air, Nawras, National Bank of Oman, Brand Oman, the Ministry of Sports Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism for their amazing support. Without them I wouldn't be racing and I wouldn't have the privilege of flying the flag for Oman." The new season will be contested across 19 races, beginning at Brands Hatch in Kent on 2nd/3rd April and concluding at Silverstone in Northamptonshire on 15th/16th October. The undoubted highlight of the championship will be the late-June visit to the world-famous Nurburgring-Nordschleife in Germany; as one of motorsport's greatest challenges, Ahmad is relishing his first visit there. His first 'official' appearance of 2011 will be during the annual Porsche Carrera Cup GB Media Day which takes place on Tuesday, 22nd March, at the newly revised Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norfolk.
