After LE CASTELLET and MOTORLAND ARAGON, the EUROCUP FORMULA RENAULT 2.0 met on the Barcelona track for the last two days of collective tests. If the still damp track, from heavy rain the day before, upset the first few hours of tests, the drivers were later rewarded with milder weather conditions which allowed them to continue their preparations.
At the end of the tests, Paul Loup CHATIN, “EUROFORMULA VOLANT” 2010 finished in a good 7th place less than one tenth behind 3rd and first of the French, not without giving the lead in class of the TECH 1 Racing, Javier TARANGON from Spain a bit of competition.
After some starting difficulties in the first tests, Paul Loup CHATIN was able to get back to form and show his potential as a legitimate rival in the Championship.
Paul Loup CHATIN, “My two test days went well. I was just as competitive on wet, with the second best time, as I was on dry where I was constantly in the lead positions. We also had a practice race with all the TECH 1 drivers and I showed I was fast and more consistent than Javier. I’m happy with these tests and feel confident for the first races.”
Satisfaction can be felt in the team's entourage and as the director of the EUROFORMULA school, Laurent FRADON said: “Paul Loup’s performance is consistent with our expectations, he is improving all the time and we can reasonably expect him to go for victory pretty soon. The quality of the selection and the number of drivers, 40, will make his task difficult but not impossible.”
Paul-Loup CHATIN is ready then to take on the first challenge of the new FORMULA RENAULT ALPS which will be raced on the mythical MONZA track in Italy. This participation will help him prepare for the EUROPCUP FORMULA RENAULT 2.0 which remains his top priority, although this will not stop him from quite justifiably racing for lead position.
