20 year old paraplegic Aaron Morgan celebrates with sponsors AVH
Aaron Morgan is an ambitious, young, paraplegic racing driver from Basingstoke and with sponsorship from leading specialist supplier of adapted and wheelchair accessible vehicles for rent, Adapted Vehicle Hire (AVH), he’s already on the road to success. Setting a personal best in his first race of the 2011 Production BMW Championship season, Aaron is an exciting newcomer. Despite being paralysed from the waist down, Aaron has his eyes on the prize and AVH hopes to see him go all the way.
This weekend was the beginning of the 2011 GAZ Shocks Production BMW Championship and Aaron qualified in 40th out of 47 with a time of 2.35. The championship is a one-make race series, specifically designed to provide close, friendly and affordable racing. However, the competition was fierce and Aaron had his work cut out for him, so he focused on improving his time and running his own race.
“I had a bad start to the race, battling with the two other competitors for places, but I was determined to beat my qualification time of 2.35” Aaron says. “I finally managed to get past both drivers, but made some mistakes after this and one got back past me. I managed to achieve my target lap time of 2.34, which meant my new target for the next race would be 2.33.
“The second race started better, but I got stuck among a cluster of four cars. I eventually managed to pass them and fought them off for the rest of the race, which was a great result. When I arrived back at the pits, the race results showed that I’d managed to get a lap time of 2.32, which was the cherry on the cake and a fantastic start to the season. Once again, I’d like to thank AVH for its support, which will be invaluable for my progression through the Championship.”
“Aaron is an inspiration to us all and we are delighted with this result, as he got faster all weekend,” says Lorraine Farnon, Managing Director of AVH. “We are proud to be sponsoring such a determined and focused young man, who doesn’t let his disability hold him back. AVH is committed to helping people with disabilities and their families enjoy life to the full by improving their mobility. We are behind Aaron all the way and wish him and the AVH car all the best for the coming season.”
